Glenhoya Wines is located 4km south of Armidale on the Tamworth road in the cool New England Tablelands region of NSW.
Armidale and the surrounding region is fairly unique in having subtropical summer dominant rainfall and a moderately mild summer because of its location and elevation. |

The region is however subject to spring frosts and occasional snow and the grapes enjoy a long ripening period that encourages fine elegant cool climate wines. | ||

The first Shiraz and Rhine Riesling vines were planted in 1997 and 1998 at an elevation of 1040 metres. The first wine was produced in 2000 and applied for and received a Vigneron's Off-Licence in November 2001. The licence and Rhine Riesling wine produced was a first for the Armidale region. The grapes were hand picked and taken to the Hunter Valley for the winemaking.
Further plantings of Shiraz, Rhine Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc were completed in 2001 on adjacent land and some Viognier in 2005. The total number of vines is approximately 2400. |
